In their words
Exactly as they wrote it
Who they think of when they think of Showdown
George and Margie
Their favorite memory
We took one overnight trip each year and stayed at the St. Thomas Camp. Some people accused me of being crazy taking a bus load of kids on a two-day outing. (Nowadays lots of schools do it, but back then it was rare.) Several parents joined us as chaperones, and we had a super time with dinner, roasted marshmallows, even a church service.
The craziest thing that ever happened up here
On one trip our bus broke down in the canyon. It being a Sunday we had to call the radio station in Lewistown in order to contact the school district to send another bus for us. I wasn't worried about the kids because everyone was dressed for winter weather, and they all had some kinds of snacks and water. What I hadn't forecast was the need for a potty break. Traffic was light because all the other skiers had passed us on their way home from the hill so I divided the group -- boys to the east, girls to the west on either side of the road. Everyone was "relieved" following their quick trip into the bushes.
History they know
I have one of the original trail signs for the Golden Goose run.

Your turn
This page fills up with whoever sends something in. If you have been up this hill — once, or every weekend for forty years — you belong on it too.
