History they know
This picture was taken near the boarding house in Neihart. The date is roughly 1942 when skiing took place on Kings Hill. Kenneth Jake Seiger, or Jake, was a fabulous skier ⛷️. He had an opportunity to go to Sun Valley, Idaho to teach skiing professionally but couldn’t see leaving the area. He broke his leg shortly thereafter and never skied again. There is a collage on the wall up at Showdown with this picture, a story about Jake, and a recreated Kings Hill logo. He and Gene Kinkaid were my uncles, and my mom is Mary Kinkaid Rapp. She worked at Kings Hill making burgers for the skiers. Jake’s skis are up on the ski wall at Showdown as well. My love of Showdown has deep roots. Although I grew up back east, I live in Great Falls, MT now and call it home. I appreciate the mountain so very much and all of the history it offers. Love, Amy Rapp
